Procedure

Step 1: Magazine Collections - Due Monday, November 21st

Bring in any magazine from home that you do not mind chopping up. We will use this for our first project in this unit.

Step 2: Project: Surrealist Collages

We will begin this unit with a quick mixed media collage. Use this Idea Generator below to randomly come up with three words. To challenge yourself, use the first three words you are given.

You will then use a combination of magazines, newspapers, drawing and painting materials to combine these three ideas into a mixed media composition. You will only have two class periods for this so you will need to work quickly.

Project Requirements:

  1. Use at least 4 images found from magazines, books or newspapers

  2. Use at least one drawing material

  3. Use at least one painting material

  4. Combine imagery in unexpected ways

  5. Image must communicate aspects of all three words

  6. All found images must be securely attached to the project ground
